Picasita does not engrave directly on fabric as a general rule — cotton, raffia, or straw bags are personalized on a sewn faux leather label. The only exception is the denim bag: the denim fabric accepts laser engraving directly, without an intermediate label. The name or initials are integrated into the fabric itself.

The general rule for laser personalization on textiles: fine fabrics burn, they don’t engrave. Regular cotton, raffia, straw, canvas — all burn if you apply laser to them. That’s why on those materials personalization is done on a sewn faux leather label (where we can engrave) or on an added metal pendant.
Denim is the exception. Its threads are significantly thicker (typical density 12-14 oz/yd² vs 4-6 for fine cotton) and its uniform indigo color creates a clean contrast with the laser mark. The engraving removes surface color without piercing the fabric, leaving the design or text perfectly legible.
Typical use case: anniversary, birthday, or Mother’s Day gift with initials or name engraved on the front of the denim bag. Many customers also request it as a gift for the father/godmother/godfather of the wedding — denim bag with the wedding date and the couple’s initials.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does denim accept direct laser engraving but other fabrics do not?
Denim has significantly thicker threads (12-14 oz/yd²) than normal cotton or fine fabrics. The laser can superficially burn the color without piercing the fiber. On fine fabrics, the laser would make holes or burn the entire piece.
Does the engraving look the same on dark blue denim as on lighter colors?
The contrast is greater on traditional dark blue denim (where the laser removes color and leaves a light mark against the dark background). On lighter or washed denim, the contrast is lower but still legible.
How long does the laser engraving last after washing?
It withstands domestic washing at 40 °C on a normal cycle for years. If you wash at higher temperatures or regularly use bleach, the sharpness of the engraving diminishes over time (just like the color of the denim itself).
Can I request the engraving in a specific position on the bag?
Yes. By default, it goes centered on the front, but you can request it in another position (side, near the handle, corner). We send you a digital proof before production.
How many model variants does the denim bag have?
