The coins are photographed up close and with flash or hard church light. A polished surface reflects that light as glare that hides exactly what you want to see: the engraving. That’s why we chose a matte finish instead of a mirror one.
The second problem is time. The coins are kept for decades in a box, and silver reacts with air and darkens; restoring it requires cleaning, and cleaning a fine engraving ends up rounding the lines. Stainless steel does not rust and the engraving remains unchanged.
And the third is the price, but not in the obvious sense: the set of thirteen costs €99, which leaves room for what really matters — the engraving of the signatures, the wooden keepsake box — instead of spending it on the metal.

Is it noticeable that they are not silver?
You can feel the difference in weight if you compare the two in your hand. In a photo, the matte finish usually looks better than a polished one because it doesn’t produce glare.
