The xTool O1 Omni is already in production in workshops like ours. That makes one question more urgent: how do we keep working if a cartridge runs out and the restock does not arrive? We are seeing reports of interruptions, delays with additional ink, and ink leaks. It is worth separating availability, level readings, and breakdowns: they have similar consequences for an order, but different causes.
After installing it, part of the ink is already inside the machine
The September 3 post in the official group explains the initial priming: the machine draws ink from the cartridge to fill lines, dampers, and nozzles. The level dropping before printing jobs does not prove that the cartridge arrived used or that all of that ink was spent printing.
White requires more initial filling because it has a closed recirculation circuit, with additional tubing and greater internal capacity. Keeping the pigment in motion helps prevent its sedimentation. A larger portion of the ink moves from the cartridge into that circuit during initialization.
The table published in that announcement provides these reference ranges immediately after priming:
| Circuit | Channels | Reference level |
|---|---|---|
| UV1 | C, M, Y, K, and V | 89–91 % |
| UV1 | W | 61–64 % |
| UV2 | FY and FR | 87–90 % |
| UV2 | FW and RW | 80–82 % |
| DT | C, M, Y, and K | 88–90 % |
| DT | W | 80–82 % |
Single UV uses UV1; Dual UV, UV1 and UV2; UV+DT, UV1 and DT. These percentages describe the moment right after initialization: they are not consumption from printing nor a guarantee of autonomy. If the initial level deviates clearly, the announcement asks to export the log from Device settings > Basic info > Export log so that support can review it.
What the Reddit conversation adds
In the public thread Omni ink shortage!?, accessed on October 2, 2026, there are both doubts about the initial percentages and testimonies of pending replenishments. One participant reports ordering ink on July 15, being unable to use the machine for two weeks, and having received an estimate of late October. Other participants state that they have received some replacements.
These are individual experiences: they do not allow concluding that no ink is being shipped, nor establishing a date for all European orders. Priming explains an initial drop; it does not explain a physical leak nor resolve the lack of replacements. Nor does it turn Studio's estimates into an exact measurement of all available ink.
The percentage in Studio is an estimate
In a statement reviewed on October 2, 2026, in the official O1 Omni group, xTool explains that the displayed percentage is an estimate and the "Insufficient" alert comes from machine detection. Initial filling can consume more ink than expected and leave an estimate that is too high.
When the machine indicates insufficient ink, that alert must be addressed even if Studio shows remaining percentage. The number should not be interpreted as a guarantee that another job can be completed.
Planning replacements does not mean throwing away a half-used cartridge
The same statement recommends planning replacements for white and varnish around the displayed 50%, and for colors around 30%. These are benchmarks for planning purchases, not replacement thresholds. The cartridge can continue to be used until the machine indicates that the ink is insufficient.
The difficulty arises when there is no restock available. Delays on additional purchases made in July have been reported to us. xTool acknowledges the need to stabilize supply and announces accelerated production and air freight for certain shipments. That does not equate to a firm delivery date for all cartridges, regions, and orders.
Studio 1.9.11, firmware, and plugin: update all three
xTool confirms a fix to continue using one printhead while the other is idle after an ink alert. It requires these versions or later:
- xTool Studio 1.9.11.
- Firmware 40.101.013.01.
- O1 Omni Plugin 0.6.6.
Updating only Studio does not satisfy all three conditions. If the operation remains blocked after updating them, you should contact support. Putting a printhead to sleep does not create ink or replace the consumable needed for a job that requires its channels.
The plugin release notes also include improvements to volume display, early alerts, and initialization. The Studio 1.9 release notes describe new features across the 1.9 family; we do not attribute all of them specifically to the 1.9.11 patch.
Fluorescent leaks: one report does not prove the cause
We reviewed an account of fluorescent yellow leakage shortly after receiving the machine, printhead replacement, and an extended wait for the cartridge. It is an individual case. It does not allow calculating a failure rate or claiming that all Dual UV units have that problem.
Fluorescent inks serve a different purpose than CMYK, but we have not found sufficient technical data to attribute leaks to their composition or viscosity. The official FAQ lists a defective damper as a possible cause of continuous dripping, and scraper issues when drops are left unremoved. The cause in a specific unit must be diagnosed by support; that diagnosis should not be replaced with a chemical explanation lacking evidence.
Shipping damage and ink: document every incident
Problems regarding physical damage during deliveries have also been shared with us. Damaged packaging, a broken part, and ink loss should be documented with photos of the received condition, a description of the issue, and order tracking for support. We do not present them as a common failure or as a shipping statistic.
For costs and maintenance, we maintain the O1 Omni consumables guide. Our initial experience with the Dual UV remains positive; that can coexist with the issues reported by other workshops.
