Corporate gifts for diverse families: risk-free DEI program

Your DEI program has done its homework on gender, race, and orientation. But the corporate birth gift is still the same as 20 years ago: pink basket for girls, blue for boys. I'll show you how to build a birth gift program that respects any family configuration without DEI policy staying stuck in a PowerPoint presentation.

An inclusive corporate birth gift is a detail the company sends to the employee without assuming the baby's gender, family composition (single-parent, two-parent, same-sex parents, adoptive), or religion. It is personalized with the baby's name and, optionally, the parents' names.

The most common birth gift mistakes that DEI policy should correct

Error 1: pink or blue. The color-gender association is cultural and, in many families in your workforce, perceived as outdated or imposing. Solution: neutral palette (beige, sage green, mustard, gray) or let the family choose the color without the company assuming it.

Error 2: "for mom" or "for dad". Assumes a specific family composition. For employees in single-parent families, same-sex couples, or multicultural families, the default message may feel like an omission. Solution: generic dedication ("For the family") or customizable by the employee at the time of order.

Error 3: religious or seasonal aesthetic. Baskets with Three Kings theme, "Blessed be" signs, frames with crosses. In a diverse workforce, this excludes non-Catholic employees. Solution: functional items without religious iconography by default, with explicit option to add it if the employee requests.

Selection with neutral aesthetic and open customization options

Four formats designed to work in any family configuration without risk of exclusion:

How Picasita applies DEI criteria in production

Neutral palette by default

If you don’t specify a color, we produce in beige/green/mustard/gray. Without assuming gender.

Open personalization

The employee decides the baby’s name and, if desired, the parents’ names. Without assuming mom/dad.

Iconography only on demand

Nothing religious, regional, or cultural by default. If the employee requests it, it is added.

Employee language

If your staff speaks several languages, we personalize in any Latin language. No extra cost.

Frequently asked questions

How do you prevent gifts from assuming the baby's gender?

We produce by default in a neutral palette (beige, sage green, mustard, gray). The employee can choose the color when confirming the shipment. If they do not respond, we keep the neutral palette.

How does it work with same-sex or single-parent families?

Default dedication: "For the family". If the employee wants something specific ("For Marcos and David", "For Carmen"), they personalize it in the form. Picasita does not assume composition.

And with adoptive families, where the "birth" moment is the child's arrival and not the birth?

Identical treatment. The "milestone" is the baby/child's arrival at home, not the biological birth. Some B2B clients ask us to delay production until adoption confirmation is finalized.

Do you make products without religious iconography by default?

Yes, it is our default policy in the DEI program. Zero crosses, zero biblical verses, zero baptism motifs. If the employee explicitly requests it, we add it.

Do you adapt languages for multicultural templates?

Yes, in any Latin language (Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, French, Italian, Portuguese, English). We always confirm with proof before engraving.

Do you have ethical sourcing criteria for the product?

Yes. GOTS cotton, FSC wood, food-grade silicone under CE1935, and children's tableware under EN14372. Production in Madrid, no subcontracting in countries with lower labor protection. We send certifications if your DEI policy requires them.

DEI is not just PowerPoint

If your DEI policy requires operational consistency, the corporate birth gift is one of the points where it shows if the company truly applies it. We set up the program with DEI criteria by default.
